The US Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that the Iran war has cost the US more than $38 billion through August 1, 2026. The nonpartisan agency projects costs could reach $2–3 billion per month if the conflict continues, with expenses rising further if fighting intensifies. The CBO also warned that higher energy prices linked to the conflict could push US inflation about 0.5 percentage points higher in early 2027
