Maggi's 2-minute snack is an emotion to millions of Indians.

 

*Early morning, when you are hungry or during the night unexpectedly when you feel hungry ? How can I cook tasty food within 2 minutes ?

*My son needs breakfast, but I have to reach the office by 10 am. How can I cook him a tasty lunch today ?

These are some common stories in India every moment. Our lives have become hectic and busy with intense workloads. From students to elderly people, almost everybody prefers Maggi for instant food. As time passed, people literally got addicted to the flavours and which made a place in our hearts for Maggi.
 

During the industrial revolution, Julius Maggi decided to provide food for industrial workers. He wanted to solve the hunger issues of the poor. World War 1 and 2 after the company started struggling. Soon after, Nestle acquired the company and started working on it.
In Japan, noodles were popular and people loved them and markets were also competitive. Nestle wanted a new market with expanding opportunities.

India was the only market with a large population and mostly people never tried noodles. It was not an easy task as local snacks dominated and people were habituated to the local tastes.

Strategies

* Launched with the brand Maggi in factories.
* Advertisements of mother and child relations to create a bond and instantly prepare food within 2 minutes.
* Adding Indian-based spices into Maggi flavours.
* 5 rupee Maggi packets in villages.
* Distribution network of retailers and supply chain.


These strategies dominated the Indian Market. Everything was working according to plan, but an incident which shook the maggi when the government banned Maggi.

Maggi was banned but why ?

In 2014, due to certain substances involved in Maggi which were harmful to children and few incidents reported of health issues to people. Which quickly grabbed media attention and the government banned and fined Maggi.

The markets crashed and Maggi was in a devastated position. Suddenly, overnight, all the hard work and efforts were lost. 
 

*Many retailers lost business and few street Maggi vendors lost their entire livelihood.
 

*It was a bad phase, but soon other brands took advantage of Maggi’s loss and launched new brands.

After days, Maggi tested its product 3500 times along with research and development. They knew they had lost the trust of the people, they gained over years of effort. To regain trust, they had to relaunch the product with better strategies. After the gap, they obtained an online market collaborating with snap deal. Within 24 minutes, the stock was sold. That shows how many people still miss Maggi.

This gave confidence that Maggi is in the hearts of people. With new campaigns of Taste and health, which again regained its confidence in the public.
