India is spiritually and culturally rich, its history and philosophy have always been inspiring for generations. It has a devotional presence and has deep values and ethics. The recent incident has shocked the nation, a few strong allegations of Ram Temple Donation Funds have been missing, which sparked a big controversy across the nation.
Reportedly, almost 80 lakh rupees have been found along with foreign currency in Ayodhya as per the SIT. Many political and spiritual organizations have been questioning the temple trust and members. It was not only in one temple, but few top worship places have been accused of fraud, misuse and manipulation.
The question here is, after being under strict security, how could they steal the money? Who is behind this misuse of funds? What about the ethical and moral values of the trust? Why are people not scared of those funds, which people gave for the temple's welfare?
According to a few reports and statements, India's temple economy’s value is worth 6 lakh crore. It is around 2.3% of India’s GDP. Many schools, colleges, roads, hospitals and social welfare help are happening only because of the temple economy. It has raised serious questions for the administration for not being able to handle serious allegations against the popular temples. Almost 140 million jobs in the country, which have been created directly and indirectly. After this incident, almost 40% of temple visitors have been reduced and people stopped donating funds.
If, in the future, these kinds of scandals increase and people's faith is being hurt, the number of public visiting temple towns would see drastic downfall. The new generation is comparatively less spiritual and less inclined towards belief in god or spirituality. The world views it as an opportunity and could demean the reputation of our culture and values. It would impact the jobs of people who are totally dependent on temple towns. The scamsters who have been behind these kinds of atrocities, should be punished.
