An inspirational journey of Adani group founder.
A name which is constantly heard across the world, but guess what, his story is not less than a film. Started his journey from a small town with a middle-class background. His father had a small textile business with a basic income to survive. The young Adani pursued education but, due to financial constraints, he dropped out of college.
Depressed, Adani moved to Mumbai being uncertain about his life and life circumstances. Eventually, he started working in a small diamond store, working for 3 years, learning diamond polishing to trade in his job. During this critical life phase, he got his first breakthrough of a 10,000 commission for brokerage in the diamond business.
As time passed through, life began to pay off in different ways and opportunities. He targeted small scale industries by providing products of chemicals and required materials for agriculture, power, metal, textile trade and including entering share markets.
The journey to the top
The Gujarat government wanted to build Mudra port and released a notification for tender. Guess what: Adani acquired the tender, and he built one of the India's biggest ports. Since then, he entered multiple businesses, fortune oil for every household, mining, coal, power, domestic electricity, solar pv pipes, natural gases, airports, data, defence and NGOs.
But a few unfortunate incidents have also occurred in his wealth journey where once Adani got kidnapped by a gang while he was returning from business. In the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks in the Taj hotel, he was at the hotel to meet a business partner. During the discussion, he heard sudden gunshots from terrorists. He said he saw death so closely with his own eyes, it really crumbled me. Another incident which Hindenburg reports which created a stressful situations where Adani lost 60 billion dollars.
From business tycoon to philanthropist, a self-made personality from humble backgrounds to India's one of the most prominent figures. His story, with lots of ups and downs, is truly no less than a film.
