The recent comments on social media handle by Elon Musk, caused massive controversy across India. He said a few oligarchies are controlling India, and it is a crime against people. Starlink is basically a low-orbit satellite Internet service, provided by Elon Musk. We in India currently use underground cables and towers, which have no access to remote villages. He says their only agenda is to provide the internet to everyone at an affordable price and empower them with services.
The harsh reality is even more dangerous than you imagine. Once Starlink services are approved, they have deep access to our data. Once upon a time, countries which had deep control over oceans and trade would rule the world. Now, in modern times, the influence of tech plays a significant role. Yes, we will get the internet to remote and backward regions, where cables are not possible. It is just 1% of what we are offering. In return, we will risk our entire country's future to western powers.
What if Starlink enters India ?
Western powers would directly control India as they would have access to data and confidential information would be easily manipulated. A big threat to our national security, even enemies could use those services, especially in Jammu & Kashmir, North east or Naxal regions. The borders of the state would be at high risk and most of the control would be with western nations. Imagine if there is a protest or attack. Our intelligence agencies stop the internet and communication to control misinformation from spreading. If Starlink was active in India, nothing would be in our control, situations would easily escalate and nothing could be stopped.
After Starlink launched in many countries, they saw conflicts, armed rebellion, political instability and regime change. The entire communication would be under US control, as most of the narratives could be switched in the sky, which would impact the minds of the people. Imagine giving the Indian future to one billionaire, would be one of the biggest mistakes India can ever make. Slowly, one after another systems, insititutions, businesses will keep collapsing across India, by creating a 100% monopoly of western powers. If Starlink is stopped overnight, entire database systems and institutions which are providing communication would collapse within a few minutes, creating internal disturbances and political instability. Dependency on western powers, would slit the throat of India. Our scientists are constantly working on satellite-based internet systems, taking better security measures. The media narrative and Elon Musk's statements have deep interests and have dark consequences for India.
