Aman: I am facing a severe water shortage at my home. In the name of real estate and illegal constructions. We have spoiled all our natural water resources.
Ayush: Yes, we have developed well, but we are not able to protect our nature. The system and government have to be more stringent.
You have constructed and bought a good house in a posh location, then you realize you have no water ?
The government says we have just 40 days of water left ?
This is current sitution of Mumbai.
Sudden cuts in water supply for construction work and timings of just 30 minutes a day for every household.
India’s financial capital, which has crores of deals every day but is struggling for water ?
2 crore population with taxes being paid, but why are there no proper facilities?
The Major Reasons
* Mumbai has no desalination procedure or development. Which is still on the papers.
* Most of the rain water is not saved and mixed into the Arabian Sea.
* Mumbai city water depends on 7 districts nearby.
* Still old British era water systems in some areas. The water mafia is trying to disturb the supply chain of water for commercial activities.
* Population and overconsumption of water in urban areas.
* Real estate and illegal construction which do not follow rainwater harvesting procedures.
* Mumbai does not have its own water storage facilities properly. Only 10% of water is left due to lack of rains.
This is not only happening in Mumbai but all urban areas. Last year it was bengaluru and hyderabad. Excessive use and climate changes with governments providing weak facilities or unprepared work. Can you imagine how much loss it would create, and it would directly impact our overall GDP.
