Tests and Turns: How Rolex Watch started.

Imagine

A 12-year-old boy who lost his parents ?

How painful it would be for the boy, who is dealing with it. His own relatives sold his father's business without the boy knowing it. He became an orphan. While searching at his small home, he found some money in her mothers locker room. A sad smile with pain and a hope for life, enlightened him again. He decided to move to London to start a new journey without anyone.

While traveling on the train, he lost even his mother's money.

Feeling devastated with problems after problems, which was haunting him.

He met one person on the streets of London and where he gave shelter to the little boy.

He had a small watch store, and Hans Wilsdorf, the little boy, started working their. Days passed and time gave him a little opportunity. He learned all the skills of watch making, sales, marketing, consumer behavior and detailed watch process.

At the age of 24, he decided to start his own company, but  at that time he earned money but still had issues with funds. He met Davis, he had good wealth at that time and Hans had great skills. Both collaborated and started their own watch brand.

The journey

During those days, only pocket watches were popular and Hans started making pocket watches. Their business moved smoothly with customers. But Hans had big ambitions, to bring innovative new trending watches. After deep research, he named it Rolex. As it was easy to pronounce and accurately fixed on the watch.

Only females used to wear wrist watches at that time. Hans wanted wrist watches for men also. Many criticized and laughed at him, but he was firm on his decision.

He observed the society, where many people used to wear gold and silver bracelets. Hans quickly made the same types of watches in gold and silver. That's how his watch started getting popular across London. He changed the entire mindset of the watch industry and people.

Everything was fine, but another big tragedy occurred. World War 1 started, and the British government imposed a 33% tax on raw materials and goods. Hans decided to leave London and start his work in Switzerland.
People loved the watch, but due to dust, heat and water, watches stopped working. It was the biggest problem of his industry. Hans researched different types of watches according to temperatures, seasons, and waterproof.  He made a unique trusted watch at that time.

For marketing, he hired Mercedes Gleitze. She was a popular swimmer, he made her wear a Rolex watch and all the media started capturing images. Which eventually became popular.

Rolex is the most trusted brand with its premium look and growth.

Today Rolex's net worth is around $10 billion dollars.
