India has around 440 space startups, according to the government. Private investment in the country’s space sector has also increased nearly six-fold, reaching $618.5 million by March 2026. The growth highlights India’s expanding private space industry, with startups attracting more funding and contributing to innovation, technology development and the country’s ambitions to become a major global space power.
