India’s next semiconductor push, Semicon 2.0, aims to support at least 200 startups and companies developing chips domestically. The initiative is expected to expand beyond manufacturing, encouraging chip design, innovation, research, and indigenous intellectual property. By strengthening the design ecosystem, India seeks to build a larger semiconductor industry, reduce import dependence, create high-skilled jobs, and enhance technological capabilities.
