Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said catering firms have been fined Rs 5.13 crore for providing poor-quality food and maintaining unhygienic pantry cars on trains. The action was taken after inspections and passenger complaints. The Railways has stressed improving food safety standards, cleanliness, and monitoring of catering services to ensure better passenger experiences.
