The Government of India’s push towards women empowerment and participation in the political spectrum, to address women-led policy making participation. The bill was passed in 2023 but due to various other delays, lack of data and delimitation procedures have been kept on hold. This bill has got support from all the parties, to contribute towards women's participation. The new India recognizes the capacity and caliber of women-led participation in the fields of science, education, sports and also the large scale of women participating in politics too. The vision aims for women to contribute more to decisions and governance. It is about women's self-respect, not only household chores but policy making and influencing the decisions of the government.
Right now, women's participation in parliament is 14 to 15%. The government's vision to implement a 33% reservation by 2029 will cause major changes politically. The Nation building procedure needs various amounts of knowledge and opinions to make the right policy. The problems women face in their personal life and the voice which has to be heard in a democratic country needs more effective measures. Only in certain urban areas women's participation is visible due to education, family support, freedom to act on self-made decisions. Have you ever thought about rural women and their struggles? The real problem and situations emerge in villages, so it requires enough measures to raise the voice in the democratic system. The equality between men and women, especially in politics, is almost unmatched. Politics requires high-stress-level environments and, being a woman, it is difficult to give the right amount of time required to deal with politics, societal pressure and humiliations. Historically, it was always dominated by men and even today all decisions are taken by men. The new shift in this policy will enhance a new way of decision-making procedure. Most women in rural areas do not even participate or don't even come out of houses. The situations are beyond our imagination. This reservation helps them bring self-respect, help and courage to deal with society.
What changes can women bring when women participate more in politics? The ability brings women’s issues and expresses a different perspective in the decision-making process. Understanding what real issues women go through in rural and marginalized regions of India. A strong voice against injustice and breaking the old rigid mindset.
Improves gender equality among men and women. Helping individuals with deep concern and women have high levels of understanding capacity, which will help them to do less self-service to society. The new India vision of 2047 will emerge with great development and equality in nation building with rights for women in all sectors of the society.
