Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said India’s mobile phone Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has generated ₹25,000 crore in direct tax collections against ₹19,000 crore paid as incentives. The mobile manufacturing sector now employs around 12 lakh people, while the wider electronics manufacturing industry supports 25 lakh jobs. The figures highlight the scheme’s contribution to employment and India’s expanding electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
