Merck Foundation Congratulates Burundi’s First Lady on UN Population Award
Gitega, Burundi: Merck Foundation has congratulated Burundi’s First Lady, H.E. Angeline Ndayishimiye, and Fondation Bonne Action Umugiraneza after the foundation received the 2026 United Nations Population Award in the institutional category.
The award recognises the foundation’s work to improve healthcare, education and the well-being of vulnerable communities in Burundi. The United Nations also confirmed Fondation Bonne Action Umugiraneza as the 2026 institutional laureate. (unfpa.org)
Merck Foundation said its partnership with the foundation and Burundi’s First Lady has supported healthcare capacity building, girls’ education and community awareness initiatives. The partnership has also included scholarships for healthcare professionals and the education of underprivileged girls.
