The President of Cyprus visited India and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss trade and to improve relations between the two countries. 

 

Both leaders had a positive and fruitful meeting. 

 

They talked about improving trade, business, and cooperation in different areas like technology and security.

 

India and Cyprus already share good relations, and this visit helped make them even stronger. The meeting focused on working together for mutual growth and better future opportunities for both nations.
 

 

Key trade deals 
 

*Defense Cooperation Roadmap
A long-term plan to boost military ties, including possible Indian defense exports to Cyprus, joint maritime training, and stronger naval cooperation.
*Cybersecurity Dialogue

A new platform to work together on fighting cyber threats, improving digital safety, and sharing security expertise.
*UPI Expansion to Cyprus
India’s digital payment system (UPI) will be introduced in Cyprus, making fast and low-cost digital transactions possible there.
*Trade Centre in Mumbai
Cyprus will open a dedicated trade centre in Mumbai to boost business, investment, and economic partnerships with India.
*Support for IMEC Corridor
Cyprus launched a “Friends of IMEC” group to support the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor, improving trade connectivity between Asia and Europe.
*Six Major MoUs Signed
Agreements cover counter-terrorism, space cooperation, higher education, science & technology, cultural exchange, and economic collaboration.
 

These deals show a strong push toward defence cooperation, digital connectivity, and trade expansion between the two countries.
