Jagtar Singh Hawara, serving a life sentence in the 1995 assassination case of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, received no relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court on October 28. The court adjourned his plea seeking parole to meet his ailing mother, with the next hearing scheduled for November 19. Hawara is currently lodged in Delhi’s Mandoli jail and has sought temporary release on humanitarian grounds.
