India has emerged as the 5th-largest country globally in Generative AI patent filings, recording 929 patents in 2024–25. China leads with 43,383 filings, followed by the US (6,530), Japan (4,211), and South Korea (2,442). India’s growing patent activity highlights its accelerating capabilities, innovation ecosystem, and increasing global significance in the rapidly evolving Generative AI landscape.
