India has formally named 27 places in Arunachal Pradesh, reaffirming its position that the state was, is and will remain an integral part of India. The move comes in response to China’s repeated attempts to rename locations in the northeastern state. New Delhi has consistently rejected such claims, stressing that assigning invented names cannot alter the state’s status or sovereignty.
