India’s manufacturing activity continued to expand in October, although growth eased as the HSBC Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) fell to 54.7 from 55.1 in September. Despite softer domestic demand and slower hiring, export orders rose at their fastest pace in six months, providing support to factory activity. A PMI reading above 50 indicates expansion. Input-cost inflation also eased, while factory selling-price increases slowed to their weakest pace in nearly four years.
