Global brokerage Jefferies has raised its forecast for India’s power demand growth in FY27 to 9%, from its earlier estimate of 7%, as electricity generation and consumption remain strong. Power generation rose 24% year-on-year in October, while renewable energy generation increased 26% during FY27 so far. Merchant power prices also climbed to ₹7.1 per unit in October, reflecting tighter market conditions. The outlook highlights growing opportunities for power producers and utilities amid rising electricity demand.
