India could be 26% richer if more women joined the workforce, according to World Bank estimates. Greater female participation could boost household incomes, productivity, and economic growth while making better use of India’s talent. Achieving this would require addressing barriers such as childcare, workplace safety, unequal opportunities, social norms, and access to suitable jobs for women.
