India has acquired a 51% controlling stake in Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC), Sri Lanka’s largest shipbuilding and repair facility. The move strengthens India-Sri Lanka maritime cooperation and expands India’s strategic presence in the Indian Ocean. It is also expected to enhance shipbuilding, repair capabilities, regional connectivity, and economic collaboration while supporting Sri Lanka’s maritime industry and infrastructure.
