We have heard the devastating stories of history, a few incidents which are bone-chilling and heart-wrenching incidents. From poverty to revolutions, we have been kept as slaves for more than 200 years of British rule without even knowing. In the name of trade, the East India company emerged as a giant empire which ruled India later.
How did they loot India ?
During the expansion, India has been designated as a strategic location for the British. We Indians are surrounded by a rich heritage and wealth. The world used to call us ‘Sone ki Chidiya’ by controlling 25% of the world's GDP back then. From there, when the British left, we were with just 4%. Exploitative trade systems and values, which made it easy for the British to extract funds. Agricultural products and crops used to be exported to western nations by giving minimum wages to local people. The British used to pay back with special council bills, a type of check which is based on paper by taking actual resources. In those days, people used a barter system of exchanging goods without using any currency. The British manipulated with just a piece of paper.
The British used export and import but never used to pay, but used to impose a trade tax on India. They built railways, yes, but with the money collected from India and for Britain's benefit only. Exploitation of education, health, and trade systems has created big losses even today. The revenue which was collected from India is mostly used for funding wars, building Europe and the agricultural resources which have been looted, which led to famines, poverty and deaths. In World War 1 and 2, most of the funding was done through Indian money and more than 50,000 deaths of Indians were reported dead who actually fought for the British.
The most important aspects they looted are gold, diamonds, artifacts, which are one of the important and crucial assets which have been stolen across India, which have high value. All these historical crimes over several years have caused an abundance of pain, problems and economic loss of trillions. The British atrocities are far more unimaginable, unknown and unexplored. According to data, a tentative $45 trillion economic loss was lost for India.
