Indian society is always represented by peace, love, harmony and brother hood. We have never invaded any country till today. Our culture always wanted to support, provide and help each other in every situation. We can see that historically, and if any natural calamity occurs, India would be the first nation to represent itself in humanity.
All these things have been changing recently due to capitalistic culture, which ruins the mindset of the people. From families to money, every nook of the culture has been diverted and is being copied from western nations. It directly imprints the mindset of the people and in their behaviour. Making Indian things look cheap and making them feel low in value. What India needs to take from the west is all about technology and innovation. The rest all are available in India. Our food, attire, language, values, ethics and thought process doesn't need any kind of a change.
How Gen Z is becoming influenced by the narratives, which have no value and making things over complicated.
If you compare your parent’s generation, their spending and lifestyle needs were minimal and based on necessity. The reason why Gen Z is adopting to new things, new ways, more options, which is creating a psychological pressure of comparisons in the society.
Rahul: Dad you have 4 pairs of clothes only since last 1 year, with minimal salary how did you manage everything.
Father: Son you have good salary with so many resources. Why are you still comparing with others ?
Why do we need 10 pairs of footwear, 20 pairs of clothes, 50 new things to taste and uploading on digital platforms. What is the purpose of doing this ?
Just to show the world you're better than others and to showoff your status saying, I am also enjoying it.
All this is coming from social media, western culture and capitalism. Previously, everything was minimal and simple, but now simplicity has vanished from the world, living life with artificial colours which have no depth and with missing reality. The EMI culture even after having a low income and iPhone buying syndrome to prove your status more than your needs, it's all about being brand conscious more than need.
We need to be modern in thoughts, mindset, innovation and work ethics, not in values or culture. The gen z is all about short time, quick thrills, lacking self-control, full of greed just to prove others. It's not the mistake of Gen Z, that's how capitalism works. Its all Profit motive, competition, a financial-driven agenda which helps the economy but never for cultures and humans.
Depression, health issues, anxiety, and too much stress at a young age are all the reasons for capitalism in society. The behavior of Gen z and older generations have gap because they followed a conservative path and have minimal resources. We're as the new generations who are following the capitalist path, which makes their opinions, habits, lifestyle, thinking, money spending and earning clash every moment.
