In the 1950s, Baldev Raj Mittal and his family moved to Punjab and established a small sweet house named Lovely sweet house. They provided quality sweets with unique tastes of various culture, which attracted everyone. Initially, they used to sell sweets only for a few hours, which grabbed quick attention and curiosity in Punjab. They slowly expanded the business and have almost 10 big stores of sweets now. Eventually, they started preparing bakery items, cakes, and snacks. Mittal always believed in innovation and experimentation in life, which made them enter into the car dealership industry and they took the Bajaj cars and maruti car deal with 25 plus show rooms across Punjab today.
The real expansion began when the next generations came together and worked in the education sector. A lovely professional university was established, as they wanted clear autonomy to work freely. The government of Punjab has approved all permits for their ethics and values provided to students in education. It was finally established as a private university.
Today LPU has 35,000 students from 50+ countries, making university an international level. It had provided scholarships worth 100 crore for students across all streams. They have 145 courses, with a campus of 600 acres with unique infrastructure and facilities, from hotels, gyms, malls, sports. The lovely name from sweet house to universities, the journey is truly inspirational. Their annual turnover is around 1135 crores, and they have also entered real estate, Ev, batteries. The LPU strategy worked due to its massive placement system, where their sales and marketing team meets various corporate companies and provides the best jobs for the students. Almost 2000 + companies come to LPU for recruitment every year. They provide the highest packages for students who study at LPU.
