Experts Call for Intelligence-Led Action Against Illicit Trade Networks
Mumbai: Experts at the ASIA Security Conference & Exhibition 2026 have called for stronger intelligence-led enforcement to tackle increasingly sophisticated cross-border illicit trade networks.
Speakers stressed that authorities should move beyond simply seizing illicit or counterfeit goods and focus on identifying, tracking and dismantling the organised networks behind them. They also highlighted the need for better intelligence sharing among customs, police, regulators, businesses and international agencies.
Experts further recommended advanced risk profiling, better monitoring of digital marketplaces and stronger coordination between enforcement agencies to combat smuggling and counterfeit trade.
