Ericsson has introduced a 5G-based drone detection system designed to identify and track low-flying drones using existing mobile network infrastructure. The technology, called the Ericsson ISAC System, uses radio signals, AI and signal processing to detect even drones that are not connected to mobile networks. The company plans small-scale commercial pilots with selected customers in 2027, followed by wider deployments from 2028.
