Democratic victories in the 2026 US midterm elections could slow the expansion of data centres, potentially affecting investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure, according to an ICICI Bank report. Proposed restrictions in Texas, Georgia and Ohio could put around 141 GW of planned data-centre capacity at risk of tighter scrutiny. The report also suggests slower AI-related investment and reduced government borrowing pressures could support US Treasury bonds and ease bond yields.
