Sustained crude oil prices above USD 100 per barrel could push India’s inflation towards 6% and increase pressure on the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to raise interest rates, according to Kotak Securities. Analysts said higher oil prices could weaken the rupee, raise import costs and increase fuel prices. Kotak Securities expects the RBI could raise rates by around 50 basis points during the current fiscal year.
