There is growing speculation in Tamil Nadu politics that former state BJP chief K. Annamalai may be leaving the party. Reports say that on June 2, 2026, he had important meetings in New Delhi with senior BJP leaders, including B.L. Santhosh, Amit Shah, and Nitin Nabin.
It is said that Annamalai is unhappy with his future in the party, especially after the BJP decided to renew its alliance with the AIADMK for the 2026 Assembly elections.
Even though senior leaders are trying to convince him to stay, talk about him possibly leaving is increasing. Posters with the message “Fearless minds have no limits” are being seen in Coimbatore, and his supporters’ group has started new membership drives.
When asked if he plans to start a new political party, Annamalai did not confirm or deny it. He only said, “Please wait. We will talk in two days.”
