The Central Government has notified the Telecommunications (Regulatory Sandbox) Rules, 2026, to encourage innovation and allow emerging telecom technologies to be tested in controlled environments. The rules permit time-bound exemptions from certain regulatory requirements, helping companies and researchers test new services, equipment and business models. The initiative aims to support technological development while maintaining safeguards for data protection, user consent and network security.
